Czech Easter event, organized by Welcome Office and ESN for international students and employees at Palacký University Olomouc (UPOL), welcomed 72 participants and offered them an enjoyable introduction to one of the most important spring traditions in the Czech Republic.

A diverse group of university students engaged in arts and crafts around tables, focusing on colorful paper and materials, fostering a lively and creative atmosphere.

The event was designed to help international members of the university community learn more about Czech Easter customs and traditions in an engaging and interactive way. It began with a presentation that introduced the history, meaning, and typical practices connected with Easter in the Czech cultural context. Participants had the opportunity to discover the symbolism behind traditional customs and gain a better understanding of how Easter is celebrated in the Czech Republic.

After the presentation, the programme continued with a lively Kahoot quiz, which allowed participants to test the knowledge they had just gained. The quiz brought a fun and competitive atmosphere to the event, and the top three winners received prizes.

One of the highlights of the event was the series of practical workshops, where participants could try out several traditional Easter activities themselves. They took part in weaving Easter whips, coloring and decorating eggs, and making Easter decorations and crafts. These hands-on activities were very popular and gave attendees the chance to experience Czech traditions in a creative and memorable way.

In addition to the cultural programme, participants could also enjoy traditional Easter refreshments, including Easter lamb sponge cake and Easter bread. These festive treats added to the warm and authentic atmosphere of the event.

Overall, the Czech Easter event was a great success. It not only introduced international students and employees to Czech Easter traditions, but also created a welcoming space for cultural exchange, creativity, and community building at UPOL.
