On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, international and Polish students, PhD students and employees of the University of Warsaw took part in the walking tour “Warsaw Legends: A Walk Through the Myths of the Old Town”, organised by the Welcome Point of the University of Warsaw.
During the walk, participants explored the streets and squares of Warsaw’s Old Town while discovering the magical and mysterious stories connected with the city’s past. The tour introduced them to legends about devils, sorcerers, mermaids, basilisks and other mythical figures that have shaped the unique atmosphere of Warsaw for centuries.
The walk was conducted in English and became an opportunity not only to learn more about the history and legends of the Polish capital, but also to see the Old Town from a different, more imaginative perspective.
The event brought together 19 participants and created a friendly space for cultural exchange, conversation, and integration within the UW community.
The walking tour offered participants much more than a sightseeing experience. It became a journey through Warsaw’s legends, showing that the city’s history can be explored not only through dates and monuments, but also through stories, symbols and imagination.
