REX Conference 2026 Successfully Brought Together More Than 100 Participants

On 20 May 2026, the University of Maribor hosted the international REX Conference 2026: Rethinking Student Mobility in Higher Education, welcoming more than 100 participants from different countries and institutions.

The conference brought together researchers, educators, students, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss innovative approaches to student mobility and the role of Virtual Reality (VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and immersive technologies in higher education.

The event opened with welcoming remarks by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marjetka Rangus, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism at the University of Maribor. The keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Charles Mansfield, who shared valuable insights into the future of higher education and international mobility.

Participants also had the opportunity to learn more about the REX project through presentations by project partners:

The conference programme featured four panel sessions covering topics such as Virtual Reality in Higher Education, Reflective Learning and Participatory Methods, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation, and Innovation, Mobility and Future Learning.
