The MicroHEI project officially began with a two-day kick-off meeting hosted by the Universidade de Vigo in Vigo, Spain, on 9–10 February 2026. Representatives from all six project partners came together to launch the collaboration and lay the foundations for the project’s implementation over the coming years.
Over the two days, partners discussed the activities and responsibilities for each work package, focusing on the development of a common European framework for micro-credentials dedicated to higher education staff.
A key aspect of the meeting was the exchange of national perspectives on the regulation and implementation of micro-credentials. Partners presented the current situation in their respective countries, providing the basis for the project’s first joint analysis and supporting the development of a shared European approach.
The consortium also planned the project’s next steps, including the development of a common award label for micro-credentials, pilot activities, dissemination, and long-term sustainability. The meeting concluded with an action plan for the first year of the project and a shared commitment to strengthening the recognition of professional development for higher education staff across Europe.
